Design Services

Before you invest in landscaping, consider the options carefully. Plants and gardens grow and change. We build this concept into all our designs.

Consult with us - our design staff has the experience (over 50 years), knowledge, and the honesty to guide you to true planting success. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned gardener, our focus is to offer landscape design services to meet your personal needs. As designers and  horticulturists, we will recommend whether  you should start from scratch, save and rejuvenate tired plantings or renovate inherited gardens all with refreshing results. We plant and install or you do-it-yourself.

How do I get started?

Redwood offers custom plans, designs and solutions for all your garden projects. We want to share our knowledge, experience and love of plants with you.  Here’s what we do to make the process as well as the outcome an enjoyable experience:

  1. Consultation.  We will define your objectives and walk through the nursery for a preliminary assessment of your likes and dislikes in plant choices. At this time we ask you for a copy of your property survey.
  2. Transpose survey. Our designer will adjust the survey to a landscape scale to be used as a foundation for the landscape plan.
  3. Site analysis.  We will visit your home to collect field data and assess the architectural details, elevations, screening requirements, existing plants, soil, drainage and problem views.  We explore solutions for developing plant beds, environmental problems, locating trees, walks, walls and lawn areas.
  4. Design development.  We begin base drawings with initial design concepts to your specifications and revisit the site to review the design concepts.
  5. Finished plan.  Our designers prepare the final landscape plan.  All plants, beds and hardscaping are located on the drawings.
  6. Specimen selections.  The designers will select the actual trees, shrubs and specimen plants that will be used on your project.
  7. Plan presentation.  At a meeting with you to review the finished plan, the designer will walk through the nursery for you to view and approve the selected plants and present you with a detailed rendering.
